Tools & Settings

This chapter deals with the operation of the OPSI server. It introduces important components, tools, and their configuration:

Authorizations: User and group administration on the OPSI server
opsiconfd Service: central service on OPSI servers
Command Line Tools: important tools for administration on the shell
Network Configuration: protocols and ports used by opsi
MySQL Server: DB server on the OPSI config server (and on an external server)
DHCP/PXE Boot: DHCP server on the OPSI depot server (and on an external server).
TFTP Server: Provide boot images for the OPSI clients
opsipxeconfd Service: Named pipes for clients that boot via PXE boot
Samba: Samba access to the OPSI depot server
Grafana: Performance metrics of the opsiconfd service
Redis: In-memory database for opsi
Backup & Restore: Backup and restore OPSI server/databases
